On the Passing of Grand Ayatollah Montazeri

“The death of such a noble one is no minor matter”

We extend our condolences to all seekers of the path of truth on the passing of Grand Ayatollah Montazeri and pray for reward and success for his family. Let us find solace in his remembrance. The foundation of the spiritual path begins with “shari‘a” and its ordinances, and the late Ayatollah was among the finest instructors of this stage. His love and hatred were للّه (“for God”) and فی‌الله (“in God”). In his spiritual journey, he strove to eliminate all obstacles—even in his final years, he regarded special clothing as a hindrance. In the path of God, he feared none but God, and he had the courage to admit his perceived mistakes and sincerely sought to rectify them. We must never forget the lesson we are taught in the mourning of the Master of the Shi‘a, Husayn ibn Ali (AS): to draw guidance from every expression of grief. رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه رَحْمَةً وَاسِعَه (“May God’s boundless mercy be upon him”).
