Declaration from His Holiness, Engineer Haj Sayyid Alireza Jazbi, Sabet Ali Shah
On the Occasion of the Blessed Month of Ramadan 1447 AH

O You whose name is the remedy for every illness and whose remembrance is the cure for every ailment, and whose servitude is wealth and independence; have mercy on this destitute one whose most precious possession is hope in Your grace and mercy, and whose keenest weapon is weeping and supplication at Your doorstep. O Bestower of countless blessings, O Dispeller of pains and hardships, O Light of the darkness of the fearful, O Unlearned Knower of every secret, send blessings upon Muhammad and his progeny.
«شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْهُدَى وَالْفُرْقَانِ فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ»
(Quran, 2:185)

I extend my congratulations and greetings on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan—the month of the revelation of the Quran—to all Muslims of the world and the Twelver Shiites, especially the “fuqara” of the noble Ni‘matullahi Gonabadi Order and those who have pledged “Bay’at” to the “Walayat” and Imamate of the Fourteen Infallibles (AS), and I pray to God for increased success in obedience and worship for everyone, especially during this noble month.

Given that this year’s Eid al-Fitr (1447 AH) coincides with the ancient Nowruz (1405 SH)—which is a legacy of the Prophet Zoroaster (AS) and the heritage of our Iranian ancestors, reflecting our national and religious unity and solidarity with many other nations—and as it has been said that life will be sweet when “good thoughts, good deeds, and good words” prevail, it is hoped that the “fuqara” will also strive in their good behavior, good deeds, and good speech, and thereby provide the means for the satisfaction of God Almighty.

«اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَائِدَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدًا لِأَوَّلِنَا وَآخِرِنَا وَآيَةً مِنْكَ وَارْزُقْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ»
(Quran, 5:114)
O our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heavens to be for us a festival—for the first of us and the last of us—and a sign from You; and provide for us, for You are the best of providers.

I pray to God for everyone’s success in servitude and, while praying for all, I draw the attention of the “fuqara” to the following reminders:

  1. In accordance with the instructions of the elders of the Order and past tradition, it is necessary for the “fuqara” to recite one part (Juz) of the Holy Quran every day during this blessed month after performing the noon and afternoon congregational prayers. Care should be taken to perform this with contemplation to benefit from greater virtue; of course, public health instructions and any reminders given in this regard must be fully observed. Furthermore, during the nights of this precious month, they should engage in worship and reflection on their past and the shortcomings they have had, seeking repentance, forgiveness, and salvation from God, just as He has said in the Holy Quran: «وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ» (Quran, 24:31). If you seek this from Him with all your being, know that you will receive God’s forgiveness and mercy, which is greater than all things, and it will lead to happiness in this world and salvation in the hereafter. For as it has been said: repentance is one of the doors of Paradise that is always open to everyone.
  2. The “faqr” gatherings for Monday and Friday nights during the holy month of Ramadan will be held immediately after the completion of the Quran recitation on Sundays and Thursdays. However, the schedule for the dawn and morning “faqr” gatherings on Fridays will not be held during Ramadan. In any case, the gatherings must conclude in a manner that allows participants to reach their homes in time for Iftar. Furthermore, care should be taken to ensure that the Quran recitation is performed with contemplation so that they may benefit from greater virtue.
  3. It is necessary to remind that in gatherings where the brothers recite the Quran, care should be taken that one individual with better recitation skills, under the supervision of the honorable Authorized Representative, guides the others to ensure the recitations are performed correctly. Additionally, those who are illiterate, have limited literacy, or do not know how to recite should follow the reciter quietly so that, God willing and with the help of the Lord, they may succeed in correct recitation.
Furthermore, it is necessary that the sisters who attend the “faqr” gatherings and Quran recitations remain behind the partitions and, while fully observing Islamic hijab and their chastity, follow the Quran recitation quietly with the reciter so that they too, with the help of God, may succeed in correct recitation.
  4. On the sixth day of the holy month of Ramadan, which coincides with the anniversary of the passing of the beloved of the Friends of God, His Holiness Haj Ali Aqa Tabandeh, Mahboub Ali Shah [may his secret be sanctified], after the noon and afternoon congregational prayers and the recitation of the Quran, a memorial service for that great figure will be held in the “Husayniyya”s.
  5. From the eighteenth to the twenty-third for six days, on the occasion of the days of the martyrdom of the Master of Masters, Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS), mourning sessions will be held in all “Husayniyya”s after the congregational prayer and Quran recitation.
  6. On the nineteenth, twenty-first, and twenty-third nights, following the Maghrib and Isha prayers, the Laylat al-Qadr vigils (Ahya ceremonies) will be held in the “Husayniyya”s at 9:00 PM, according to the tradition of previous years.
  7. On the day of Eid, the Eid prayer will be performed in the “Husayniyya”s at exactly 8:00 AM.
  8. During the first three days of the New Year, as in previous years, visiting and meetings will take place exclusively in the “Husayniyya”s.
It is hoped that, as mentioned, on Friday and Monday nights, the “fuqara” will detach themselves from worldly affairs at home and, through “dhikr”, reflection, and the reading of “Mysticism” books—while contemplating their meanings—and by performing prayers at the onset of their prescribed times, they may gain spiritual grace and strengthen their faith.
  9. Note: According to the practice of previous years, no ceremonies or public meetings will be held at the “Residence” during the first 14 days of the New Year.
«اِلٰهي عٰامِلْنٰا بِفَضْلِك وَلٰا تُعٰامِلْنٰا بِعَدْلِك یٰا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمين»
“O God, treat us with Your grace and do not treat us with Your justice, O Most Merciful of the merciful.”

Both the prayer and the fulfillment are from You

Safety is from You, and awe is from You

If we have spoken in error, do You correct it

You are the Reformer, O Sovereign of Speech

You possess the alchemy to transform it

Though it be a river of blood, You can turn it into the Nile
